Bermuda's Plants
ANNUALS
Annuals are plants that germinate, blossom, produce seed and die in one growing season. They are common in environments with short growing seasons. Many common weeds, wild flowers, garden flowers and vegetables are annuals.
AQUATIC PLANTS
Aquatic Plants are those that have adapted to living in aquatic environments. They can only grown in water or in soil that is permanently saturated in water. Seaweeds and algae not included.
CACTI AND SUCCULENTS
Succulents are any fleshy plant that belongs to one of many diverse families, amount them species of cactus, aloe, stonecrop, houseleek, agave and yucca. Most are indigenous to arid or semiarid regions and their succulence in simply an evolutionary adaptation to the extreme heat and dryness of the environment. Cacti are succulent plants of the Cactaceae family and have leave that reduce to spines or scales and have brightly coloured flowers.
FERNS AND MOSS
Ferns and their relatively are the most primitive plants to have developed a true vascular system. They reproduce from spores, instead of seed. Mosses also reproduce by spores. They grown in tufts or mats on moist ground, tree trunks and rocks.
GRASS
Grasses are any monocotyledons with jointed stems sheathed by long narrow leaves, flowers in spikes and seed like fruits.
HERBACEOUS PERENNIALS
Herbaceous perennials are plants that have soft, green stems and lives for more than two years.
SHRUBS
Shrubs are woody plants of relatively low height. They have several stems arising from the base and lacking a single trunk.
TREES
Trees are woody perennials, meaning they last longer than 2 years. They typically have a single trunk growing to a considerable height.
VINES
Vines are weak-stemmed plants that derive its support from climbing, twining or creeping along a surface.
